The year was 1989, Halloween was just around the corner. We were living in Royal Oak, Michigan in an old house with a huge rocking chair front porch. The sides of the porch were decorated with 6 foot crochet spider webs with huge hairy spiders. The wide front section of the porch was decorated with two large hanging pumpkin lights, a windsock ghost and eerie bats. The front steps were adorned with darling scarecrows and carve Jack-O-Lanterns. In the front yard there were tombstones for Elvis, R.I.P. etc..
At night when the pumpkin lights were turned on cars would drive by to see our Halloween spectacle. I was delighted to provide fun free entertainment for everyone. We decorated every year but this year - 1989 the local TV camera crews did a story on our house. We anxiously awaited our story but the story never aired because that was the night of the San Francisco earthquake ) : That was a much more important story.
With Halloween just around the corner we have the most awesome Halloween crochet patterns at MaggiesCrochet.com to get ready for this fun and festive holiday.
Have a great week,
Maggie Weldon
