What does it mean when a pattern calls for a certain weight of yarn?
Yarn weight is becoming increasingly standardized, so the crocheter can know what kind of yarn works best for their pattern. Most yarn labels now have a number symbol indicating their weight. Patterns will tell you either what weight yarn to get or exactly the type of yarn used in designing the item. It is important to stick to the suggested weight. For best results, use the kind of yarn used for the pattern model. You can do yarn homework online by visiting the websites of major yarn companies. Each of them has what is called a yarn switcher. You tell it the weight of yarn in your pattern, and the website will tell you all your options for that particular brand of yarn.

Wondering if you could help me find some Aunt Lydia’s Denim Crochet Thread in the ‘Milk” color. Made the mistake of not buying enough of that color and now can’t find it anywhere. Appreciate any assistance your readers can provide. Thank you.

Hi Linda,
I looked on our supplier site for you and every color in that yarn is out of stock. This may mean that it is going to be discontinued. I’ll find out. We can special order it for you.

Hi Maggie..
I was wondering why you dont sell more yarn on your site that. Most of us that order your patterns books would like to do one stop shopping, and if you had alot of the typical yarns to purchase, I for one would order yarn at reasonable rates : )
Just love your site.. Thank you for everything you do : )
Jules and happy customer in W.V
